Before treatment of a Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) wildfire hazard reduction project that is being conducted on BLM land in cooperation with MT DNRC. The project is located in Colorado Gulch just west of Helena, MT. The project area has heavy accumulations of downed beetle killed ponderosa pine adjoining a residential area. A cut-to-length mechanical logging system is being used to salvage as much down material as possible as pulpwood and firewood.
The remaining material is being piled for burning this winter.
